2017 Lee Westwood Golf Tour National Finals - invites are out!

Invitations for the 2017 Lee Westwood Golf Tour National Finals have now been sent.

It's an exciting time with many of our tour participants returning to school, college and university; and now the excitement of the National Finals begins.

Those who have qualified  for the National Finals would have received their invitation today and we would like to take this opportunity of congratulating them on their performance in the Lee Westwood Golf Tour this year.

The National Finals are being hosted at Gainsborough Golf Club on Monday 23^rd & Tuesday 24^th October 2017.

 

Participants of the finals are invited to compete over both days on the Karsten Lakes Course for a fabulous prize table.  On arrival they will be welcomed at the registration desk where they will receive their complimentary Finals Player Pack, scorecard, rules of the day and any additional information. 

They will then be greeted onto the tee by our official starter to play one of the UK’s top courses, returning your card to the scorers after your round. Golfers can then sit back and enjoy the fantastic clubhouse and watch how the leaderboard unfolds. Participants will then return to compete on Tuesday for the final round of the event, upon completion they will be able to enjoy a fantastic meal and excitedly keep an eye on the scores whilst anticipating the prize presentation. 

In order to sign up for the finals qualifiers need to visit http://leewestwoodgolftour.com/join-the-tour and join the invite only Nation Finals event. Entry costs £49. Once we receive replies from everyone we will confirm the tee times for the Monday’s play.

National final venue announced

We are delighted to announce that the Lee Westwood Golf Tour National Final will return to the Gainsborough Golf Club, home of PING’s European Custom Fitting Centre, in search of the 2017 LWGT National Champion. 

The 36 hole competition will take place 23^rd & 24^th of October, during the half term break to make it easier for as many qualifying finalists to as attend as possible. 

With winners from all 16 UK events, plus our international events, we look forward to seeing a large number of young golfers battle it out to become the Lee Westwood Golf Tour National Champion, at the location where it all started back in 2013.

Those successful in the regional rounds will receive an invitation to attend the final via email.

The prize consists of one free entry into a LWGT 2017 event.

All LWGT competitors must be under 21, as of the 01/01/17, and have a CONGU handicap of 28 and less for boys and 36 and less for girls.

LWGT 2017 - OFF TO A FLYING START

This week saw the first events in this year’s Lee Westwood Golf Tour take place at Oxford, Kings Norton, High Legh & Stoke by Nayland.

Aspiring young golfers competed in the events in some excellent summer conditions; a change to the start of last year’s Tour which was playing in some shocking weather!

The Tour events are open to both boys and girls under the age of 21 (as at 01/01/17), with up to 6 players from each event qualifying for the Lee Westwood Golf Tour Grand Final, to be held later in the year.


All the results can be found on our website www.leewestwoodgolftour.com, as can a full list of future events - it's not too late to participate as the Tour continues throughout the summer at various locations across the UK & Europe. There’s bound to be one near you!

Congratulations to all those golfers who won their events & have already qualified for the final, and good luck to all those taking part, we look forward to seeing many of you at the finals!

LWGT HUNGARY EVENT ANNOUNCED

We are happy to announce that Zala Springs in Hungary will host a Lee Westwood Junior Golf Tour event later this year. The event will provide junior golfers in Eastern Europe with the opportunity to compete and have the chance to qualify for the Lee Westwood Golf Tour Grand Final in the UK.

During the last 10 years Lee Westwood has been one of the biggest golfing stars in Europe and around the world. In October 2010 became the best player in the world knocking Tiger Woods from this position.

“Zala Springs is an outstanding venue and will attract young golfers from around Eastern Europe to play in Hungary. The course is designed by Robert Trent Jr. I am confident the participants will enjoy our five star golf and spa resort." Damian MacPherson, Club Manager at Zala Springs.

This is the second Lee Westwood Golf Tour event to be held in Hungary. The first event was in 2015; from that event Alexander Simmes (pictured) qualified for the UK final, where he went on to finish in equal 2nd position.

The tournament will be a 2-day event to be held on August 21st & 22nd.

Lee Westwood Golf coaches are also hosting a 2-day coaching camp on the days before the event (19th & 20th).
